Saturday at Leeds festival.

On Saturday myself and Ry went to Leeds festival for the day. We'd discussed doing the full weekend and decided we weren't going at all but then Alt-J were announced and so we bought day tickets. I spent a little time deciding what to wear and decided on a white elephant print dress, my denim jacket, and of course my Hunter wellies. We caught the bus from Sunderland at 5 past 9 and arrived in Leeds city at quarter to 12. We headed straight to the hotel (which surprisingly wasn't that far away), checked in, got sorted, and then headed straight back to the coach station to buy our festival shuttle tickets. Once we'd got them we headed to bay 11 to wait for the bus to the festival, I was excited. We arrived at the site at around half 1/2ish and after getting our wristbands headed straight to the arena. Once in we then made our way towards the main stage as all/most of the acts we wanted to see were on that stage. On the way I got myself a shirt from the merch stand, a red and white t-shirt with 'The Cribs' written on it. I wanted to get the floral printed Leeds 2015 shirt but since I'd only been for 1 day I thought it was a bit daft so opted for the 'The Cribs' shirt. It was food time, I got cheesy chips and Ry got a pulled pork sandwich (the stall had a full pig, snout and everything in tact,  that was obviously dead and cooked but it shook me a bit so I couldn't stand in the queue with him). Food (and cider) purchased we ate and then slowly walked to the first barrier section and sat down to watch Palma Violets. They were average and the only song we knew was 'Best Friends' which I was surprised about 'cause we thought they'd play '14' but they didn't. The next band was the first act I wanted to see and that is Panic! at the Disco. The last time I saw them was in 2012 so I was very excited to see them again since it'd been 3 years. They played old songs like 'Time To Dance', 'Nine in the Afternoon', and 'I Write Sins not Tragedies' but also new songs like 'Miss Jackson' and 'Vegas Lights'. They were fab and I was full of nostalgia from being a 14 year old emo kid but also sadness because of the fact there's only one person left from the original line up. We then endured All Time Low's set. They weren't bad and the people around us enjoyed them, and they also got some fans on stage which was kind of them, but the guitarist was extremely annoying. You know that kid who never got enough attention so grows up to be a very annoying adult who tries to be funny by telling dick jokes constantly? Yeah that's him. 2/3 of those jokes were kinda funny but it was none stop and I was cringing with second hand embarrassment. Next up, Bastille. We had to choose between seeing Bastille or Peace and since I'd already seen both (and we're seeing Peace in September), I let Ry decide and he chose Bastille. They played a couple of new songs but also songs we know, and a couple of covers (that they've claimed as their own songs). Dan stood on the barrier near us during Flaws and everyone went crazy! I dunno if Ry enjoyed their set or not but it didn't blow me away, it was just a bit 'meh' for me. I like listening to Bastille and was a little disappointed but at least we secured a good spot in the crowd for the next band. The band I came to Leeds for in the first place, Alt-J. Although I thoroughly enjoyed their set, most of the people around us looked very bored and I wonder if it's 'cause they don't know who Alt-J are so didn't realise how chilled out they are. I'm quite proud of them for making it to second off headliner on the main stage although I've got to say they sound a lot better in the NME tent. Finally we have our headliner, Mumford and Sons! There was 45 minutes between Alt-J's set finishing and Mumford's set starting so we decided to leave our spot, get some food and a drink, and have a sit down on the grass 'cause my feet were in bits off my wellies. It hit 9pm and they were due on so we got up and had a wonder down to where everyone else was standing. We were kinda near the back but still had a pretty decent view due to being on a bank and the people around us weren't inconsiderate either so was a nice atmosphere. They opened with 'Snake Eyes' from their new album and I was a bit teary 'cause it was my first time seeing them live. My mum likes Mumford too so I facetimed her during 'Little Lion Man' and 'Believe'. Ry was worried we'd miss the shuttle back so we left early which we were both a bit sad about but from what we saw of Mumford's set they were really good and everyone seemed in high spirits. I had such a wonderful day that I felt a wave of sadness come over me when the bus pulled out to take us back to the city center. I have a feeling of being at home when I'm at Leeds festival and I'm not sure what it is but it was just so strange not going back to a tent to sit around a fire with my friends until stupid o'clock. I really regret not buying a weekend ticket this year and I'll never make the same mistake twice. Leeds festival, I'll see you next year.
