On Monday my mum and I took a trip to York, it was her birthday so I thought I'd take her out for the day. *10 daughter points* My mum has been to York before but years ago I'm talking like before I was born and I've never been at all so we thought, why not? Let's go to York.

We got there at quarter past twelve and headed straight towards York Minster and of course we walked the city walls to get there. Surprisingly it wasn’t plagued with as many tourists as we thought which was good really ‘cause it meant we didn’t have to contend with crowds of people to see the things we wanted to and get where we wanted to be. Once we got to the minster I took a few photos and we headed inside. We got our tickets (they’re valid for 12 months) and our map and started to explore the beauty of York Minster. I never realised just how beautiful this building is but I suppose it’s because I’ve never taken much notice, what a fool I am. We spent about 2 hours inside and that’s without going up the tower, neither I nor mum could be bothered to walk those steps! After snapping a few photos of the intricate details inside, we headed to The Shambles. On the way I spotted a shop called ‘The Cat Gallery’ and basically everything they sell is cat themed or for cats, obviously my idea of heaven. I wanted to buy so much stuff but I didn’t and instead I picked up a cute floral kitty key ring. It's adorable. We were going to go to Betty’s for afternoon tea but we didn’t want to wait in the mile long queue so we popped to Little Betty’s and picked up a sweet treat each. Mum got an Almond Macaroon and I got a super cute Fox Cupcake Brownie. We saved them until we got home and may I add both were delicious! We explored The Shambles and then went to pizza hut for dinner. I actually have a funny story about pizza hut but I’ll keep it short-ish. We finished our food and I was reapplying my lipstick and one of the members of staff came over and said “How was your food today?” and I just said “Yeah it was fine thanks” to which he replied “It must’ve been good ‘cause you’ve had to reapply! Yeah I saw you” to which I burst out laughing. He then said “my girlfriend is always doing it, and I bet its MAC as well is it?” another laugh followed. I gave him my NUS card and he took it to the till to get our bill sorted and process my student discount and when he brought it back he wrote ‘Stop Reapplying Amy ;)’ on the bottom of the receipt, absolutely comical. I honestly think he was the only happy member of staff in the whole place and he made our experience eating there a good one. We had around 2 hours left before our train came so we headed back to the minster to take some more photos because the day had brightened up considerably and we also popped into a little sweet shop nearby and got some candy rock, one for mum, one for me and I got one for Ry. Mum then popped next door and got a key ring and a postcard with York Minster on the front. We also made a quick visit to Micklegate Bar, mainly because I find the history behind it fascinating and because it just looks amazing. It fascinates me that things like this are still standing today. York is full of so much history and I can’t wait to return and learn more about the heritage of this beautiful city.
