Taffy Mail: American Candy Subscription Box.

I've seen on the youtube/blogging world a new bandwagon/hype of trying American candy and have always wanted to do it myself but our specialist stores never seemed to have much of variety. I then saw Taffy Mail becoming quite a popular thing so I mentioned it to my boyfriend and we decided to subscribe and give it a go.
Taffy Mail in case you've never heard of it are a subscription service who deliver American sweeties and snacks right to your door! There's three box sizes: Lite £7.49 p/m, Classic £14.99 p/m, and Extra £24.99 p/m. We chose to go all out and get the Extra sized box and we got so much stuff! I've made a little table below giving you my thoughts and opinions on each item (and my mum helped cos some stuff has gelatine in and I don't eat it) and hope it gives you some insight. In my opinion we got more than our money's worth because in specialist stores you can end up paying up to £6 for one item, crazy I know! We're going to keep this sub going for another 2 month and see what we think overall. A bit like in science when they tell you to carry an experiment out 3 times to get a fair result.

Milk Duds	9/10	American version of an English sweet called Poppets. Caramel coated in chocolate, pretty basic.
Hershey’s Syrup Chocolate flavour	4/10	I just can’t understand the point of it. Why send chocolate sauce? Rating based on item alone, haven’t tasted it.
Twinkies	6/10	I don’t understand the hype. They’re an average cake with average filling.
Honey Cheese Flavoured Curls	6/10	I love a cheesy crisp but these taste like a cheap English crisp called Wotsit’s. Not bad and would eat if Wotsits weren’t available
War Heads Chewy Cubes	5/10	Not much going on also not much flavour.
Mike and Ike Zours	9/10	I love sour sweets and these are right up my street. The apple one tastes like an alcoholic drink called Sourz (I wonder if we copied) and the purple one tastes of Parma Violets!
Jolly Rancher Crunch’n Chew	9/10	Nice flavours, don’t mind the texture either.
Take 5	10/10	Pretzel gives a nice texture and peanut butter isn’t too strong. Would definitely repurchase.
Reese’s Crunchy Peanut Butter Cups	9/10	Not a fan of Reese’s peanut butter cups but I prefer the crunchy texture of this so it somehow tastes nicer to me. I approve.
Funnyuns	6/10	Tastes like actual onion rings, not something I fancy in a crisp. Texture good though.
Laffy Taffy	7/10	Apple tasted like strawberry and strawberry tasted very artificial. Not bad but also not amazing.
Chips Ahoy!	7/10	They’re just choc chip cookies. Nothing ‘WOW’ about them. Still enjoyed though.
Junior Mints	8/10	Just like after eights but peppermint is stronger.
Twizzlers	1/10	Absolutely disgusting. These taste like the smell of diesel/petrol to me. So horrible.
Crush Cherry Limeade	2/10	Far too much sugar and it stained my fingers red whilst I was stirring the powder in!
Trident Pineapple	1/10	I can’t stand gum the texture makes me gag so this didn’t sit well with me. Doesn’t taste of pineapple much.
Double Dipped Nerds Watermelon Apple & Cherry Lemonade	4/10	Watermelon apple give off a very perfume like taste, cherry lemonade are very sugary and sour. I like the taste of the latter but my jaw ached after eating a few.
Tootsie Pop Drops	8/10	I had the chocolate flavour one and they reminded me of chupa chup lollies I used to have as a small child. Lots of nostalgia and the taste wasn’t bad.
Hawaiian Punch Fruit Juicy Red	2/10	It tastes of nothing. It’s almost like it’s just water with loads of sugar and colouring in it.
