Revlon Matte Balm review.

Friday, 7 February 2014

Hello everyone! It's been quite a while since I properly blogged and I can't say it's because I've been busy because I haven't. I've just gotten lazy and been in bed doing nothing since January started but I'm back now and have quite a few posts to make! The first is about my latest beauty purchase: Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms

I was just browsing the Boots website and noticed there was a 3 for 2 on Revlon. I had a browse through and noticed that the lacquer balms but most importantly the matte balms I've been after for months had finally been released and all of the colours were available! I spent 2 hours looking at popular bloggers reviews before deciding on 6 colours I liked the most, added them to my cart and ordered them. They were delivered 2 days later. The colours I chose are: Elusive, Unapologetic, Shameless, Showy, Audacious, Standout.
Elusive, Unapologetic, Shameless, Showy, Audacious, Standout.

The colours I've chosen are pinks, reds and corals apart from one and that's because my lipstick collection consists of pinks, reds, corals and pretty much nothing else. I've been looking for the perfect purple for over a year now and haven't been able to find one that's a matte finish but not too dark a purple. I purchased one from Topshop but it was so dark that I've never worn it out. Then of course Revlon release this line and I notice Shameless is a pink-purple so I added it to my cart and thought 'can't hurt to try it' and oh my word it is THE perfect purple for me. The day has come I've finally found the perfect purple and it's all thanks to Revlon. It honestly is wonderful.

I love the packaging on both the matte and lacquer balms, they're packaged so it's super easy to tell the difference. I wish all lipsticks came in these crayon styles. My favourite thing about this packaging is the twist base. I have other lip crayons that you have to sharpen resulting in product loss so I'm really happy that these are a twist base! These smell like peppermint and I love that because it's one of my favourite scents but also because a lot of lip products have really awful scents, some even smell like sawdust (gross). I've tried all of these out on the lip and worn all of these out apart from Audacious, I'm keeping her for summer time. Surprisingly enough, Elusive, Showy, Audacious and Standout are extremely similar shades to 4 MAC lipsticks I purchased last year: Chatterbox, Daddy's Little Girl, Vegas Volt and Ronnie Red. They go on the lip quite nicely. I love all six shades equally but I would say that Standout is my favourite because it really is the perfect red and I'm a sucker for red lip products. They are creamy and smooth upon application and then after a few minutes they dry nice and matte. They last around 4 hours, if you're not eating or drinking, and they fade evenly. Darker colours leave a slight stain but again it's even. The darker colours do smudge a little around the edges and Shameless, I find, bleeds a little but it's not too much of an issue. I'd also recommend using a lip scrub to get rid of any flakes before applying because they do settle in to the cracks of your lips so will cling to any flakeyness or dryness you may have. Exfoliating before using is a must I would say. The thing to remember is that these are a matte balm so if you like matte lip products to be strictly matte, these may not be to your liking.

I absolutely love these matte balms, everything about them is just perfect and I would definitely recommend them to everyone wanting to try them out. There's at least one colour for everyone!

They retail at £7.99 and are available to purchase from Boots.
